This year’s Caves Day brought together renowned children’s English language author, Jane Tsai, and a team of highly experienced English teachers and consultants to share strategies for quickly and effectively developing flexible, targeted activities. Touring Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, they met with over 300 English teachers, presenting ideas on how to maximize learning outcomes in short time spans.

She showcased ways to enable students to practice phonics early on, breaking down exercises into multiple, brief activities. Each phase integrated previously learned material to ensure continuity, avoiding the pitfall of students forgetting foundational content.

For instance, holiday lessons like Christmas can go beyond the basics to explore global celebrations or incorporate climate change topics through a board game challenge where students work to rescue polar bears, linking the theme to global warming discussions.
